How The Guides Work
Want to know if an audio guide is worth a listen? You’ve come to the right place. But how do we rate them? Here’s the guide to the reviews.
Audio quality: How much attention has been given the recording process? Is it easy to listen too? Is the voice enthusiastic and engaging. Bonus points for GOOD music. Rich sound not tinny. Marked out of 10
Audio content: Is it over long? Has it been written for speaking or are we getting the book read aloud? Bonus points for directing our gaze and movement in a space. Does it create an experience or is it a list of facts? Don’t’ tell me show me…Marked out of 10
Ease of use: Does it actually work? It’s amazing how many don’t. To stream or download? Is there an app?) Marked out of 10
Worth a download? A final rating. Turn up/ Turn on / Turn off
Turn up is unmissable content that’s going to greatly enhance your visit.
Turn on is a good addition to a visit with some thought as to how the audio can best enhance a visit.
Turn off means don’t even both. Usually used when a guide has technical issues and is difficult to practically use at a venue.
